You copied a wrap to a USB drive or uploaded it in the app, opened Toybox → Paint Shop → Wraps, and nothing is there. Or it is there, but the car looks scrambled. Almost every case comes down to one of these seven things.
1. The file is larger than 1 MB
Paint Shop ignores PNGs over 1 MB. Detailed full-color art often lands at 2–4 MB. Convert it to an optimized palette PNG; our free PNG fixer does it in one click without changing the size.
2. The size or aspect is wrong
Wraps must be square PNGs between 512 and 1024 pixels. Cybertruck is the exception at 1024 × 768. A 4K image or a straight-from-phone photo will not load until it is resized to the template.
3. The file isn't really a PNG
A JPG renamed to .png is still a JPG. Export it properly as PNG.
4. The file name has special characters
Stick to letters, numbers, spaces, dashes and underscores, up to 30 characters. Emoji, accents and symbols can stop the file from being listed.
5. The USB drive is formatted NTFS or has no Wraps folder
Format the drive as exFAT or FAT32, create a folder named exactly Wraps at the top level, and put the PNGs inside it.
6. The drive also holds update files
Map or firmware update files on the same drive can stop the car from reading wraps. Use a separate drive, or remove them.
7. It loads, but the design is on the wrong panels
The wrap was made for a different template. Model Y 2025 and Model Y 2020–2024 use different maps, as do the 2024 Model 3 and older ones. Open the file in the 3D preview: it tells you which Tesla the file fits best. Then generate it again for your car on the Tesla wrap generator.
Still stuck?
Update the car and the Tesla app, reboot the touchscreen, and try one known-good wrap from the Tesla wrap gallery. If that one shows up, the problem is the file; if it doesn't, it is the drive or the software version.
